Directions from Chantilly, VA

Pachadashi of Shree Vidyaranya:  Starting on August 9th Saturdays 9:30 AM -12:00
Ashtavakra Geeta:  Starting from August 10th Sundays 6:30 – 8:00PM

The first five chapters of Panchadashi were covered last year when the classes were held at Durga Temple. These talks are available on yu-tube under Acharya Sadaji or http://www.livestream.com/advaita_sadaji. We start now with the 6th Chapter, Chitra Deepa Prakarana. From 6th chapter to 10th deals with analysis of consciousness in the form of jiiva-jagat-Iswara. In the 6th Chapter the analysis is presented taking an example of a painting. The Knowledge is analyzed in terms of direct and indirect knowledge, the nature of ignorance, the micro and macrocosm aspects, nature of maaya, self-realization and jiivanmukta.  Classes can be attended even by those who have not studied the previous chapters.

We will be taking the Ashtavakra Geeta for the first time. This depicts the dialogue between the teacher Ashtavakra and student Janaka. The discussion begins with Janaka asking the teacher – how one can gain self-knowledge. We will be taking chapter by chapter with in-depth analysis of Vedantic teaching as imparted by Sage Ashtavakra to a mature student Janaka.  The two texts are complimentary and are taught to those who want to study Vedanta seriously.

We will be doing a two-day spiritual camp at Chinmaya Somanath during Columbus Day weekend – October 11-12, taking Brihadaranyaka Upanishad – Muni Kanda. The details will be provided later.
